Introduction
Welcome to the Wakefield Lakes website, dedicated to bringing the tax payers of Wakefield the continued privilege of having one of the lowest tax rates in the state of New Hampshire.
If you follow the links listed on this page you will find FACTS and REFERENCES that show why we can no longer kick the can down the road when it comes to protecting this valuable FINANCIAL ASSET. These links will help all of us to come to the conclusion that we must protect this asset, specifically the R-2 Zone that encompasses the shoreline of the lakes and much of their watersheds.
These bodies of water represent the financial life blood of Wakefield, producing two-thirds of ALL real estate tax income and one-third of all yearly income to the town.
The best way to protect these assets is to create a new lake road crew department, similar to our current public road crew department and budget. In the links on this page you can see why we are losing this advantage if we do not act now and stop the yearly EROSION that is killing the FINANCIAL LIFE BLOOD of WAKEFIELD. If we act now and create this department in the March 2027 vote, generations of future Wakefield residents will applaud what we did, and unless the rest of the state follows us, they will envy our FINANCIAL STABILITY.
One more key aspect of having these lakes in our towns, especially for future generations, is the quality of the lake water. Without a doubt the lakes will supply the future residents with a much-needed drinking water source, as we see the overwhelming demand for water from population growth and the real ELEPHANT in the room: DATA CENTERS.
Thank You for taking the time to read this.
