McConkey Had Years of Real Estate Tax Liens

My interest in Senator McConkey’s financial background came to light when I was writing my October 15, 2026 column that appeared in the Conway Sun titled, Water Issues. Senator McConkey is chairing a board on SB598 to come up with ideas to help in the state’s fight to control cyanobacteria and milfoil. In that column I point out the lack of seriousness in that proposed bill. After seeing thousands of political ad dollars being spent on our county’s Spectrum TV channels against his opponent, I wondered, how he could afford them? It may be that outside money is buying those advertisements while his opponent has only her hard work and volunteers with very little financial resources to combat the negative and false claims this money is providing. Being a real estate investor the first thing I looked at was the Carroll County Registry of Deeds. It shows that McConkey might have had as much as $45,000 dollars in real estate tax liens on record at the Carroll County Registry of Deeds between 2007 and 2023, with more dating back before 2007, see below. His opponent Bobbi Boudman had zero tax liens. So why would you want someone who continuously cannot pay their own real estate taxes to have such a loud voice as a Senator overseeing an 8-billion-dollar a year state budget?

To really see the lack of seriousness in Senator McConkey’s SB598 bill please make sure to read the links listed here, Conway Sun article from October 15, 2026 and the Selectmen August 26, 2026 meeting that goes into great detail on McConkey’s lack of any real success in bringing help to the number one reason people come to New Hampshire, the waters.

I am not in either the Red or Blue Cult that so many voters fall into. I get it, when we go into the booth we just vote the way we registered. Myself, I support the person, as I did when Judd Gregg was a Senator in the 1990s. Gregg brought back the modern equivalent of $250 million dollars for the protection of the Great Bay Estuary.

I am sure Mr. McConkey has many well-intentioned peers and supporters, but at this point he is caught in the wave of FREE STATERS who are following Jason Osborne, the party leader. Osborne himself took millions of covid dollars before bankrupting his company. I point out in the other links on this website how 92% of you citizens are losing millions from these two issues, the removal of the Interest and Dividends tax and the creation of the Educational Freedom Accounts, which the current party in power passed, while the minority party opposed. Jason Osborne’s wife takes thousands of dollars from the Educational Freedom Accounts. My own state representative Lino Avellino told me that he thought the $300 million dollar a year removal of the Interest & Dividends Tax was good for retired people! He believes the most capable of paying this tax created in 1923, get a tax break and you, the 92%, should now pick up the bill in higher local real estate taxes. Representative Mike Belcher, also of Wakefield, told me he wanted even more tax cuts, but he said he did not know anything about our lake’s health in Wakefield when I spoke to him outside the town hall on primary election day. I asked each of them to support me in protecting Wakefield’s most important revenue generator. Neither has spoken to me on the subject since.
